Absynthe (The Green Fairy Kind)

I've had it before but it's today that I realise why it's banned over here. Bloody hell.

It was my college student do last night, went out at 7 and got back to my friends at 3, in which we (between a few of us) managed to finish off a 80% proof bottle of Green Fairy from Prague (I think). I think I had about 6 - 7 shots over all. But I had college today and I've got to say I was catatonic for the first 4 hours.

What are the laws on this stuff over in other places?

N.B Yes - I managed to keep it down

It's illegal over here, though we can get Pernod, which tastes sililar, and Green Chartreuse, which looks similar. The wormwood in it is the no-no.

I saw a documentary on absinthe a few month ago, and it appears it gains popularity in Europe.

Apperantely, this modern kind is safer to drink than the old.

Bollocks. Absynthe is the finest drink known to humanity. The wankers don't drink it because they can't afford it.

It's quite nice actually. Has a good taste to it. My friend had a single shot and was instantly sick. AS in about 10 seconds later. Only 2 of us wern't.

Oh, BTW, the only thing absynthe does is make you drunk, like any other alcoholic drink. It will do it fast because of the high alcohol percentage, but nothing else. There's nowhere near the same amount of wormwood in it as there used to be a decade ago, so no hallucinations and no special effects.

I understand it was banned for a long time, but now you can buy it in every liquorstore here. I never had one though, so i wouldn't know anything about the taste, but it's alcoholic so it can't be bad.
