I wonder if we have all these companies going out of business because people are getting better at breaking copy protection codes and pireting software. Acclaim made some great games as well as sirtech and 3do.

huh... Well they haven't really been keeping up in recent months to the par of companies like Electronic Arts and Bioware. I certainly do remember some very good acclaim games tho. I remember when they got the rights to make the first South Park game, and Turok was awesome, and Extreme-G, oh and Forsaken that was real awesome. It's too bad that many of their games never were really all that popular. I think it was because the atmosphere of the games sometimes felt... I don't know how to put it... at times playing Acclaim games on my N64... I felt like i was playing a whole 'nother system, which seperated from the technicolor dream-like norms of other nintendo games and had a bit of a realistic element to it, though sometimes the graphics were just too much for the N64 to handle. Yeap... They made some good games... unfortunely they never got the popularity they deserved.

What a shame indeed.
Same old story, failed game titles, high production costs and PC games loosing ground to consoles. ![]()

It is actually quite surprising because they just came off of a big success with there wrestling game, "Showdown: Legends of Wrestling". Possibly the best game of its type ever produced. I usually hate wrestling games but this one is actually good. You don't need a degree in quantum physics to master the controls.
They produce alot more sports games than any other company I know. Not one of favorite gaming genres and I have only had one game that I can think of by this company "Magic the Gathering: Battlemage" A Real time magic the Gathering game. The game sucked because it would crash whenever a counterspell was cast so it made it difficult to make it through the campaign. Despite its major flaws the game did have some nice qualities to it, a decent storyline, music, and end movie. Despite being a crap game I did have some fun with the game and obtained it from the bargin bin. Later I traded it with a game store that sells used games, I think they may have mistaken it for another MTG game and gave me a couple bucks towards my purchase of NWN:Gold. Anyway that is my fondest memory of a game by this company. I guess it was more a combo of bad business decisions by the suits that killed this company.
