[Begin short story A ]

Ahhh..what a nice day. maybe I'll grind a bit.

Bang! Bang! Bang! A murloc finally falls dead. 120xp to me.

Suddenly with no warning, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! my hunter falls dead to the ground. 6 minutes to resurrect..

[/end short story A]

[Begin short story B ]

I need to kill so and so and collect so and so to complete this quest. okay, simple enough.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Awesome! A quest item! 4 more to collect.

Huh? what's that 4 red dots moving towards me. * Turns to look *

4 Level ?? riding on mounts charging towards me. Run Kakero Run!!!

oh no, I'm not fast enough. AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! my hunter falls dead to the ground. 6 minutes to resurrect..

[/end short story B]

Does the aboves sounds familiar? Has it ever happen to you? Story A is about getting ganked by a rogue while Story B is the usual high level raids on certain area so and so. So tell me, how do people on pvp server actually level up or do their quest without any harrasment from the opposite force? I feel like I'm in a hot frying pan once I step into a contested area. I'm more worried about meeting the opposite forces rather than a mob of elite monsters.

It is very hard to level on a PVP server. I personally don't know how people do it. You can be griefed and repeatedly killed by a higher level all day and night and Blizzard can't really do anything about it. Doing runs like Scarlet Monastery or even just questing in Westfall, you never know when some rogue or mage will just pop up and begin to PK you till you die inside.

I often think about how hard it would be to get your end-game loot in places such as stratholme BRS...you'd almost never be able to travel there alone and even with a group there would be tons of the opposite faction simply hanging around, all pvp-flagged. Not my idea of a fun grind or experience. I'd much rather get my PVE gear then move onto PVP at 60.

Or play on a non-pvp server

The key strategy to surviving a PvP server. Join the PvP server when it is first created. That way you level up with the rest at a reasonable rate.

But yeah, ganking is "t3h 1337 sux0rz"

I was thinking about that too. But do they allow that?

I already did, I switched from daggerspine ( got a lv25 NE hunter ) to medivh ( now a lv27 NE Hunter ) . But there are people I know in real life ( met them during my stay at Ragnarok Online ) that play in daggerspine. *sigh*

Although its completely possible, starting PvP at 60 is like trying to do an exam without having done the course You should do it every now and then to get the hang of it, and learn what kind of role you like playing and how you must play to fit into that role.
Mainly because at lvl60, you will be expected to do alot more than you will at anything under 40-50.

I personally did it now and then at 40+ but mainly at 60. Yes, PVP is a different ballgame than PVE but there is really no problem starting at 60...you die a bit as you learn the tricks in atrial & error process, suffer no equipment damage and start to learn a whole new way of playing your character. Since PVP gives you no XP reward, and the honor system is really designed for level 58+, at level 40 I figured I could easily be grinding to 60 and then working on my permanent PVP gear. I didn't do it alot before 60 but every now and then.

I am currently 6th on my server in PVP...I can't PVE with my main now anymore since the WoW AI, even though I love it dearly, can't come close to the thrill of fighting another player.
