Dunno about you, but running WOW with all settings maxxed was like wading through a swamp of chop. Well, I HAD a 2.4Ghz with 512 of ram (old ass rambus ram too) but had a Geforce 6800 GT 256MB card. Well you know, the video was never even being utilized to its max because of the limited frontside bus, and the slowass ram and CPU, so I upgraded...

Got a 3.2Ghz Northwood
G.Skill 1 gig Ram (the unbuffered 2.2.2.5) best on the planet at the moment
and a nice asus oc'ing motherboard.

Got it all set up. Had to reinstall windows xp, and finally all apps back, and set.

I got to play World of Warcraft.................

Oh my FREAKING god. Guys, ALL video maxxed at 1080x1024 with 8x anti alias on its screams through WOW--even the areas that would usually be choppy--Entering Stormwind or Ironforge--and WOW... framerate is crazy nice.

And I have yet to overclock the CPU--I have a good coolant option, so I could nearly overclock this cpu to a 4.0Ghz. But will probably set her at 3.71Ghz. for stability..

Just wanted to say that it was also the slowness that made me kinda not play, but I'm back! Also, NWN is even MORE smooth as well. Doom and Farcry maxxed are smooth as well.

And 3DS Max is SO much faster, to make my 3D models for NWN!

I'm running on pretty much the same setup as you (PCX 6800, gig ram, 3.3ghz - 'cept I don't ever OC my stuff) and it runs terrifically. But then, WoW isn't the most taxing of games as far as technology goes (It sure does look as good if not nicer). It is great for huge raids though and/or Ironforge .

Glad you got out of the grind you were in too.

Cool, I've been playing the game with everything maxed for a while too, and there is really a big difference, it's cool■.
