I purchased a bulk of games, and Everquest was one of them. I haven't installed it yet. Is there anyway to just play it on my computer or do I HAVE to pay the $12.95/month fee to play it? If so, I'm not interested, that is just more than I'm willing to pay to enjoy a game so I'll just sell this game on ebay or to EB Games or something.
So, can someone explain to me, who has no experience, how this game works? Thanks so much in advance fellow IWers ![]()

You have to pay the 12.95 per month if you wish to play online. Or, you could play the terrible tutorial repeatley.

Thanks. Guess I won't be playing then. $12.95/month is more then it's worth to me. It's not that I can't afford it, I just would rather spend my money on things like saving for a house, retirement, vacations to Auruba, etc.
Well, maybe at some point the price will drop. If it was $5 a month I might consider it, but $13/month, it'll just sit on my shelf for now. Thanks Sir Degrader for the quick reply.

But you're more likely to play more, let's say 12 hours per weeks. Your subscription would cost you 0.25$ per hours.

I guess it also comes down to how serious a gamer you are. I don't mean that in an arrogant way at all either. It's just a case of how much time do you put into gaming and does it figure largely enough in your life to warrant paying for it monthly.
For awhile it didn't, for me. I hadn't the time to play enough as to justify my subscription. And I was the same, I could easily afford it but just saw it as a waste of money if that was the case. I finally caved and started paying to play MMO games as my passion grew for them and my life got less hectic. But it all depends, for casual gamers maybe it can work and for others maybe not. Luvian has got a good point there too. Hey, you could also give something up in your life that you aren't happy with (smoking for example if you smoke) in trade. The money would then not actually feel like it is being spent but being moved around. Something to think about, eh? ![]()

No, I don't rent movies, and the theater I go to is a family owned theater where they show second run films, double feature for $3, the large popcorn costs $1.75, candy is .50-1.50... basically there are lots of ways to do things really cheap, you just have to know where to look. And $13/month is money that I can spend elsewhere (seeing 8 movies and still having a buck left over for example)
Basically, because I'm picky about how I spend my money I can afford things like going to Europe and Aruba every year (I went to Ireland last summer btw -- I see you're from there -- it was BEAUTIFUL). I will be able to retire at 54 -- retire completely, not do some part time job. I'll be able to buy a retirement home on Aruba. Doesn't mean I don't have fun, just means I'm pickier about where the money goes is all. Anyway thanks, I've got several RPG's still to play that I just got, so I'll just play them instead.
