Five to ten minutes after I turn on my computer, my monitor goes black. Needless to say, this makes working impossible. Time to get a replacement?

Are you sure your little sister/brother/dog doesn't unplug the monitor cable after said period just to piss you off?
![]() Have you checked all connections i.e. power and VGA? Also, this kind of problem is usually due to some connection that has come loose internally, or something that changes due to heat (hence the 5 -10 mins before malfunction). Sounds like something a monitor repair shop could fix. If it's an expensive or not old monitor try getting it fixed, otherwise the cost of fixing it probably isn't worth it. All connections are right where they belong. And since it's a four year old 17 Inch Dell monitor, I don't think it's worth getting a repair for. Thanks for the advice Vask.

Hey I've got a 4 year-old 17 inch Dell monitor too! hehe it's normally fine but every now and then the picture shrinks and bends inwards so I have to smack the damn thing to set it straight.
