I was wondering, because I'm not really used to this sort of thing, where is the most cost-effective and fastest place to exchange £ to €. I'm a Yankee in King Arthur's court, if you will, and I'm supposed to be headed to Spain for Christmas in the next week or so.

Try a travel agent. Thomas Cook perhaps.

Ryaldin, why exchange money at all? There are ATMs al over Europe and they'll give you a far better exchange rate than at any airport or travel agent.
PS- If you have cash that you didn't use, you could A) throw a party at a pub & invite local IW members B) Buy a money order with it & mail it to an address I can give you in Florida. C)Make a deposit to your bank via ATM. You'll need your bank's full routing number (usually this is your bank's account number with the Federal Reserve) and your account number. D) Buy a money order with it & mail it to an address I can give you in Florida. E) Both B & D
