Hey Sazerac, I was wondering, when will your mod be complete??? Also, how big is it to download??

Hi, SecretMaster!

The Pace mod is still about a month or so away. I've gotten most of the dialog for SoA and the quests in, but I haven't gotten to the testing phase yet. Also, I still have to implement the ToB dialog, but what I'm thinking of doing is releasing an SoA version only early, and then the ToB version (which will be upgradable from SoA if you have the first one). Since I'm using WeiDU, it shouldn't be a problem.

The particulars on Pace are:

He is a Chaotic Good Human Swashbuckler, and will be at level 11 when you pick him up at the Harper's Guild. His stats are:

STR 17
DEX 18
CON 12
WIS 8
INT 17
CHA 17

He has 2 profs in Longsword and 2 profs in two-weapon fighting (dual-wielding). His main skills will be in Pickpocket, Open Locks, and Find Traps, with a few extra in Set traps. Because he's a swashbuckler, he will be low in Move Silently and Hide in Shadows, but there are other items that can help boost these. With his stats, he can be dualled to a mage (though it would probably be better to keep him as a straight thief; there are enough thief-mages in this game.) In addition, he will have a couple of "special" innate abilities such as Entangle, Goodberries, and Slow Poison, due to his connection with the Harpers. If your lead character is female, there will be a romance option as well.

His history is that he originally hails from Saradush, and fled the city as a youngster when his parents, former nobles of the city and members of the Harpers Guild, were slain by members of the Twisted Rune. He was adopted by the Harpers and has dedicated his life to stamping out the Rune, which is tied into his personal quest.

He will banter once with each NPC in SoA, and will banter again with them in ToB. He is charming and witty, but his mouth gets way out of line sometimes (which is why Berinvar in the Harper's Hold chucks him out to "go do field work"). Just as a preview, his banter with Jaheira is especially hilarious, as he continues to emphasize her advancing age. ("It's always refreshin' to meet an elder member of the Harpers.") Needless to say, she doesn't appreciate the comment one bit!

So far, I do not have plans to make a Macintosh version, although if someone out there is interested and understands Mac, I'd be willing to work with them in porting the mod to that platform.

I plan to have a web site up soon about Pace, with more information and updates as to when you can expect the mod.

Actually, Pace's voice I'm adapting from one of the voices in IWD...the little obnoxious one that says "Well, looks like I'm just about to go on a killing spree!" Hip, smart@$$, and comical.

I have a friend who has a voice similar to that one, and I'm thinking of asking him to read the lines for the romance option.

Unfortunately, my own voice isn't really suited for Pace (and, suffering with allergies as much as I am, it's not really suited for any voice-over, except maybe for a golem! [img]graemlins/hehe.gif[/img] )
