On Sears hairdryer:
Do not use while sleeping.
(Gee, that's the only time I have to work on my hair!)

On a bag of Fritos:
You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside.
(The shoplifter special!)

On a bar of Dial soap:
Directions: Use like regular soap.
(and that would be how?)

On some Swann frozen dinners:
Serving suggestion: Defrost.
(But it's 'just' a suggestion!)

On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert: (printed on bottom of the box)
Do not turn upside down.
(Too late! you lose!)

On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding:
Product will be hot after heating.
(Are you sure? Let's experiment.)

On packaging for a Rowenta iron:
Do not iron clothes on body.
(But wouldn't that save more time?)(Whose body?)

On Boot's Children's cough medicine:
Do not drive car or operate machinery.
(We could do a lot to reduce the construction accidents if we just kept those 5 year olds off those fork lifts.)

On Nytol sleep aid:
Warning: may cause drowsiness.
(One would hope!)

On a Korean kitchen knife:
Warning: keep out of children.
(hmm...something must have gotten lost in the translation...)

On a string of Christmas lights:
For indoor or outdoor use only.
(As opposed to use in outer space.)

On a food processor:
Not to be used for the other use.
(Now I'm curious.)

On Sainsbury's peanuts:
Warning: contains nuts.
(but no peas?)

On an American Airlines packet of nuts:
Instructions: open packet, eat nuts.
(somebody got paid big bucks to write this one...)

On a Swedish chainsaw:
Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands.
(Raise your hand if you've tried this...)

On a child's Superman costume:
Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly.
(Oh go ahead! That's right, destroy a universal childhood belief.)

They just kept on getting better! Particularly the last two. If you need warnings/disclaimers to point out the stupidity of these... well. Let's just think of it as natural selection in action.

I've seen the first one on a gas bottle as well.

The second: That comment is just cruel. But still funny.

Yeah, I recognized some of those, especially the Tirmai-su one, cos I saw that one. I have to tell my friends the others though! They're great, did you get them yourself or found them somewhere?

The "keep out of children" one was a mistranslation. In a book I have, there is a page or two of mistranslations. Do you want me to post them on here?

On the gas grill I bought many years ago was a warning not to look for leaks with a lit match!

We have such warnings on every gas container - people are tired of all the explosions .

Arvon!

Couldn't we say that it's the folks doing the idiotic things that causes this:
- the idiot with the nut allergy eating the bag of peanuts, or
- the lady thinking her hairdryer will work if she turns it on and goes to sleep, or
- the lady who grabs her kid on the way to church and tries to iron a wrinkle out of the shirt he's wearing, or
- the guy who tries to string the Christmas lights in the bottom of his pool for cool effect

The fact that juries have decided to let every idiot get money when he sues a company for his own ignorance creates the need to "reasonably warn" of even the most "unreasonable" things.

I think the "keep out of reach of children" on plastic bags is too much - yet the number of people who recovered for that one is pretty high. I mean, c'mon, who lets the kids go play in the pile of dry-clean bags anyway?
