Ok guys, this is very very serious.
It is not an Arvon-esque commedy thread. I dont want to see one LOL, LMAO or anything in this thread. It's a serious issue, and rather than words, this link can do far more for the cause. If you are squemish, easily displeased, do not read. The images you are about to see are horrific and shocking, and will definately turn your stomach. Just think. http://www.expressen.nu/html/bildarkiv/Saburido.htm [ 01-27-2003, 07:57 PM: Message edited by: Lavindathar ]

My dear god. I feel so sorry for her and her family and friends. I hope she will be alright.

I know what she is going through. I was hit by a drunk driver 4 years ago and the accident shattered my ankle and my arm. If someone will host and post the pictures, I will e mail them copies of my X-rays.

I would personally beg for death...for I could never live like that...and in the end...it would be easier on my family. I have already told my wife this, and made her promise to put me away. I guess I should sign some sort of legal document though...to ensure it.

One of my friends was hit on a motorcycle by a drunk driver - the driver turned left in front of him, and there wasn't even a roadway for the drunk to turn into!!
His hip and leg was fractured in several places, and he spent a few weeks (it was a few years ago, so I can't remember exactly how long it was) in Sunnybrook and almost died twice from complications. Today, except for some ugly scarring on his leg where they did a muscle flap and skin replacement, he is mostly recovered - it coulda been a lot worse. What makes us all mad is the drunk driver got off on the charges! Rumour was he and the "arresting" cop were best buds and evidence got omitted from the trial. Fortunately, he got smacked good in the civil lawsuit. (My friend bought a house out of it)

Only thing that isn't mentioned, is how the girls car was going? it could have been her fault that they crashed, but the drunk auto gets done.
There is two sides to every argument, we only hear one. But that man must be wanting death, he must be devastated. Quite rightly too, but, I feel for him as well as the girl. He will never learn. If I did that, I probably would never drive again. And Larry, she might be happy that she is alive. I have a very good mate who was in a coma for 6months after a car accident, and he is now seriously brain damaged. He lives life to the full. not as bad as her, but similar princeples. Drive safe people,

Lav, thank you for posting this. I don't think I want to look at the link, not out of squeamishness or escapism though - just because I don't feel it's necessary and I'd probably end up thinking of nothing else.
Anyway, just wanted to say I absolutely agree with you about drunk driving. I am not normally very judgmental but I'm afraid I can have no respect for people who do it. ![]() You are right that in some cases, maybe this one too, the drunk driver wasn't the (only) one at fault, but I think that because they step into a car and start driving while NOT in control of themselves, they bring other lives in danger by default. It may end well in most cases, the fact that they put other people's lives in danger is just despicable to me. I also think (and hope I'll never be proven wrong) that I have such a strong conviction about the dangers and wrongness of drunk driving, that I'd NEVER even consider it, no matter how drunk I am. I doubt many people would sign a contract to give away all their money, no matter how drunk they were, so clearly they *do* have enough sense left to decide such things. I was referring to myself. My choice. I have no idea what she's thinking, nor will I pretend to. I have told my wife to let me go, and she has asked the same of me. That is what I said in my post.
