All drugs containing PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE are being
recalled. You may want to try calling the 800 number listed on
most drug boxes and inquire about a REFUND.
Please read this CAREFULLY. Also, please pass this on to everyone you know. STOP TAKING anything containing this ingredient. It has been linked to increased hemorrhagic stroke (bleeding in brain) among women ages 18-49 in the three days after starting use of medication. Problems were not found in men, but the FDA recommended that everyone (even children) seek alternative medicine.

Well I received this a e-mail today. I have not researched the truth about it yet it did come from my DAD but he did get it from some one else. So only take this at face value. But I just wanted to post this just in case, There is alot of prople out there with small kids.

Maybe some else out there can shed some light on this as well.

This is a HOAX. Please look it up on internet rumor sites. It isn't true. Drug comapnies have VOLUNTARILY stopped using it in their medicine, IIRC, but that's it. There is not recall, and no instant death waiting for anyone [img]smile.gif[/img] Please EDIT/DELETE.

BTW, though, thanks for the concern and thoughtfulness to bring a seemingly nasty item to our attention. I don't begrudge you that.

If information like this comes to you via e-mail instead of through other more reliable sources...

and/or it has ALL CAPS written through it LIKE THIS...

and/or it uses wild punctuation like THIS!!!!!!! ...

and/or it relies on testimonials and speculation rather than hard facts...

and/or it has been forwarded nineteen ways from Sunday and the return/reply list is longer than the message itself...

...

then it's MOST LIKELY a hoax. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Good post, Saz. Yes, Phenylpromamine is a bad actor, but it has not been recalled. I had a 16 year old girl die of a hemorrhagic stroke following Dexatrim ingestion. Pretty little thing, too.

Geesh, guys---if this were for real, can you imagine?!? That's most of the popular cold remedies! We don't use them, but so many do.

That's a shame, Attalus. Dexatrim, huh. I *loathe* diet stuff. Seems to me way too much emphasize is put on how a person looks and so little on how you are on the inside.
