Im starting a new game as a fighter-mage. im thinking of putting most proficiencies for staff cuz i want to later use the Staff of Magi as my main weapon but Im also thinking of forgetting that and focusing on dual wielding.... which do you think is a better idea? if you have a better idea than those two though let me know!

If you have ToB, get Dak'kon's Zerth Blade. If you don't, do buy ToB. If you don't want to buy ToB, you can just CLUAConsole the zerth blade into SoA. The code is wa2dak. Sword and shield style and katana would be good (if possible with a fighter/mage, I can't remember) for Dak'kon's Zerth blade, but if you want the staff of the magi then put your proficiencies into staff and two handed weapon style.

I would advise not using the staff of the maig with your fighter mage... I would give it to a mage NPC and be proficient in Two Weapon Style and Katanas... then dual weild Celestial Fury and Dakkons Zerth Blade ... that IMO is the best weapons for a F/M

staffs can be quite useful, you know. Especially in ToB. For instance, having a fighter with the Staff of the Ram +6, Jan (UAI) with Staff of the Woodlands, a mage with Staff of Magi, and another figher/other person with Staff of Rynn, not much survives long. Staffs have lower speed factors and higher damages than many weapons, and they can be found all over the place. However, i do think that the Celestial Fury is a good choice. However, leave your other proficiencies open for ranged weapons (throwing axes, slings) for use with shields when necessary, or for warhammers (Crom Faeyr). The CF/CF and Improved Haste combo is REALLY nasty. Especially if you have made your own CF+5 mod.

I suggest dual-wielding Katanas, Dak'kon Zerth's Blade and Celestial Fury. Great combo, with lot's of damage.
