Hi all, I just thought id do some kind of tribute thing in honour of my grandfather who passed away last night ages 64.
He died from a major haemmorage, at about 8 o'clock on tuesday afternoon he was due to be taken down to the operating theatre for a blood trnasfusion and to stop the bleeding he'd suffered as a cause of a burt stomach ulcer, but the thinning agent in his blood was so thin that it wouldnt clot and as a result of the blood loss his pulse had dropped so low that the blood they were putting into him wasnt been travelled around the body properly and just came out of his opwn wound internally, he was given 3 hours to live at which time I and my dad and brother went down to the hospital where my mam and nanna and her son had resided all day, I hadnt been down to see him while he was in hospital as my mom felt it was best that i didnt, but it turned out that the last opportunity to talk to him had been the day before when he had an amazing recovery and was back to his old self in hospital (calm before the storm I guess) and so the greatest pain was him not seeing me beofre he went unconcious never to awake, I sat by his bedside all night long and it was in the early hours of tuesday mornign that he drew his last breath, but he would of had comfort in knowing that me, my brother, mam, dad, nanna, uncle and my grandads brother (who arrived literally 20 seconds before he last breathed) where there to see him off. Born Ronald Rooke on the 24th of August 1939 he led an amazing life and served in the British Army and did his duty for England, in Korea to Australia to Hong Kong in his younger days. And even tough you people didnt know him I can assure you he was the most brave and gentle person in the world, and bravely fought throat cancer 5 years ago, surviving his op and treatment and coming out at the end of it with a valve in his throat to breathe through. However it's a cruel hand in ending his life when there are so many people deserving of death who are fine. Sorry to rant on but I just feel very shitty and just had to let it out somewhere [ 10-02-2002, 02:49 PM: Message edited by: Sio ]

I'm so sorry to hear that Sio. I'm glad you had a grandfather you were so proud of, and you will have many good memories and a good example to hold on to for the rest of your life. I know it probably won't help you much now - I lost my grandmother and I know how terrible it is - but trust me, it will be a great help later on. Wishing you and your family lots of strength for the coming time.

He lived a good life, and died with his family around him- those two things would mean that he died happy; if you remember that much, atleast, it will make you feel better than you otherwise would
Remember his life, remember his happiness, and he will still be alive within you |
