For 2 months, call me stubborn if you like, but for 2 months I have been trying to fix the clock in my computer. it's always one hour ahead and it doesn't matter if I change it, the next time I tuirn the computer on it's back one hour ahead. I have tried anything even got one of those programs that are supposed to update your clock through the internet but nothing has worked...
Any Ideas?

This could be one of three things:
1) A virus.
2) A bug.
3) A program.

2) is unlikely, as other people using the same OS would have reported it by now.
You should have fully up-to-date virus protection set to do a full system scan at least once per week. A full system scan should soon fix it if it is 1).

If you HAVE done a full scan since it started, then it is probably a program: Think back- what did you install around the time that this started ?? Try uninstalling it.

Or, your system has a 6 hour internal power supply... unplug it all completely, leave it for 7 hours, turn it back on and your clock should be an hour slower.

Or ofcourse remember not to trust your clock.

Did you reset the clock in Windows (or you OS), or did you reset it in bios? if OS then try bios. Sometimes it will fix it.

Your computer could be going through a rough time at the moment and trying not to think about the present.
It does sound like a bug, if you have any friends who are total computer whizzes they should be able to sort you out.

Hi

I had the same problem with my Apple Mac 7500

Everytime I turned my machine on, the time was always August 1956!!!!

I had to replace the Lithium battery inside my computer, which helps keep track of time when the computer is turned off.

I have no idea if a PC has the same lithium battery, but it might be an idea to see if it has and to replace it.

If the battery is worn out, it will not set the time properly.

Hope that helps

if you have windows xp. it is configured to go out to a time server and correct the time. if you have it set to the wrong timezone it will be off every time.

Thanks guys, it could be a program that I installed, or the Bios, I'm not at home right now, but will check it out as soon as I get home. I'm using Windows 98 by the way and the motherboard is "relativly" new 2 years old, so I don't think it's the battery.

Anyway thanks again, and I have learned not to trust that clock
