Workaround - external modem. But dont get a USB if you wan to play games on it.
ON fixing the IRQ - it varies with which BIOS and which version of windows your using. But USB has been known to screw up various settings, my machine used to have a massive confilict when USB was enabled. Fixed it by upgrading Motherboard drivers.

Go into your system properties, and Device manager and see if the modem is there. If it is check its properties and clicke the Properties tab and then check the part that says Interrupt request, if there is no number there click on it and choose 5 or 10. Restart the computer... and pray... I hope that helps |

Heres a suggestion most people miss. If you have PS2 style mice (round plugs) you can turn off (in the BIOS) your serial ports and free up two IRQ's in most systems. Since I have a home network and the printer is on the network, I turn off the LPT1 printer port and free up a third IRQ. Hope this helps some.

I downloaded some of the drivers for the modem, motherboard, and video
zippo I logged on to EQ, walked around for few seconds, just found out that I've been poisoned, and suddenly, comp freeze bah I went to the eqlive chat room tech help and managed to snag one of the EQ techincians(sp?). Went though the problems, uninstalled my firewalls and disabled the anti-virus programs. still the same problem but managed to get to the point where I'm safe. you know... didn't have this problem until they did a new patch 2-3 months ago... Luckily, the help tech is very interested in helping me so she asked me to email her the attached required files EQ usually requested. so I'm hopeful. curse it! I paid for it so I'm going to solve this problem! until my account expires! (6 months)

oook I went to the EQ tech help many times and my manufacturer's tech many many times. conclusion aobut the Irq problem: those two does not need to be separated whereas they all in one card.
I updated my drivers I uninstalled and restalled my card. end tasked the running program turned off my voice wave device (useless to me anyway) uninstalled my useless programs (can't get rid of the already uninstalled programs from my add/remove list) no change. STILL freezes when I get in the scenery after a few seconds. one option and it is a drastic one: start my comp over completely ![]() right now I'm working on figuring out how to save my bookmarks and back up my programs
