How to Beat...*drum roll* Lichs! Help!

*grumbles* Bloody undead things... [img]graemlins/madhell.gif[/img]

Anyway...any tips? I'm currently fighting the one in Urs Natha (sp) and I can get him to "Near Death" with a few whacks from my Kensai, but then her weapon suddenly becomes ineffective. Whats up with that? And how do I kill him off for good?

well i can give u my hit-first-ask-later tip... i place all my melee chars close to where the lich shows up and them i cast Breach to remove his stoneskin, haste to make my chars faster and punch the llichs face till he says enough and die like a b**** he is.

if all comes to worse just ctrl + y his @ss [img]smile.gif[/img] i would only use that if you REALLY need to though

A Kensai who does 20-30 HP damage each hit helps too.

A recipe for chunky lich meat
Take one protection from evil scroll
One Lv 20 or higher good cleric or paladin with turn undead on
add some +3 and +4 weapons and mix well
after a few minutes you get a even more dead lich

Cast Breach and stuff like that... anything to remove spell protections.. you know liches right? hehehe

the weapon inneffective is probably because he cast protection from magical weapons, or mantle/improved mantle, breach, pierce shield (I think, it's the 6th lvl spell that takes out protections and lowers mag resist) or ruby ray should all end that problem for you, or you can just wait out the four rounds that the spell is active for.

If you have to deal with liches on rather low levels (for example, in chapter 3):
1. Send one of your guys to trigger the lich. Give him Boots of Speed or cast Improved Haste on him. When the lich appears, let the guy run back like hell. The Time Stop cast by the lich is wasted.
2. Now, send summoned monsters to the lich one by one. Most of powerful spells cast by the lich are wasted.
3. If your level is not too low, send Mordekainen Swords or Skeletal Warriors to visit the lich. The lich gets much deader than it has ever been. Otherwise, you can attack him directly by your weapons (they must be +3 at least) or spells. The lich is not so dangerous now. At any rate, cast Remove Fear and Chaotic Commands before approaching the lich.
