Daily flights bringing more Canadian soldiers back to Afghanistan is the general gist of it. Opinions?

Kandahar appears to be a very risky region, same as Uruzgan where 1200 Dutch troopers will be deployed in a few months. Not much more to say than it's pretty much a warzone in both provinces.

Are you linking the USSR's invasion of Afghanistan to the NATO peacekeeping force there now?

Don't claim to speak for Timber, but I would only link it insofar as it is as difficult a territory to control as there is. That goes back way further than the Soviets. The British and Russians had prior kicks at it.

Canadian forces will also look after a Provincial Reconstruction Team that will assist Afghans in the rebuilding of the area after 25 years of war.
Noble deeds indeed!
