On april 23rd Several documents were found (in Iraqi Government offices) dated in 1998. These documents reveal that Saddam Hussein wanted to strike back at the Un and the US in particular for increasing pressure from the US for him to comply with the UNSCOM inspectors, the documents outline travel arrangements for Bin Laden's travel to Baghdad. This was happening just prior to The cruise missile attacks on several terrorist targets in the middle east. Tony Blair is said to be "Very Happy" and those who criticised him for linking Bin Laden and Saddam are going to have to eat some serious crow.

I am getting this info from the BBC America news show so do not have any links to it yet...Im sure they will start showing up and some people who scoffed at Bush and Blair linking SH to terror organizations should have their opinions changed a bit.

This is very good news for those of us who were supportive of both Bush and lair in their pursuit of actions against Iraq. WoMD or no, it has been proven that SH is/was tied to terror activities and THIS is one of the reasons that were stated right from the beginning, even though WoMD took center stage.

Ok for the three or four of you wou will say I am just making this up...give it a rest. I have better things to do than to just conjure stories out of thin air. This should be in the news shortly if it already hasn't been.

Edit: oh I guess the documents could be forgeries...it's happened before..but then you can't really prove that the USA has sent men to the moon either...unless you can go and look at their footprints in person.

This is a little off topic (well, way off topic) but I heard that with a telescope you can see the flag they planted there. I wonder if this is true?

Nice post MagiK, it would help a lot to connect these dots. Do you mind posting a link or a source?

Hm... Bin Laden called saddam a Stalinistic pig once, and we all know Saddam isn't a very forgiving man, so i have my doubts about that.

On the other hand, they both have a mutual enemy, so it might just as well be true. Hell, they might even share the same cave as we speak.

Early days yet (because we have had many previous claims get badly debunked), but I will be very happy to see this end up proving true. The leaders of OZ and UK got dumped on pretty badly in the press for supporting Bush's claims on this link when there was zip intelligence that could be used to back it up.

Still want to see some of those WOMD though - that was the real reason for the invasion.

Is bin Ladin some kind of Terrorist-for-hire?
This might be a forgery, but on the other hand they still have a mutual enemy. And nowadays they´re both wanted men.
Even if they co-operate they´re still worlds apart and they´re "friendship" doesn´t go deep.

Question is still: Did US/UK know about this document, or any other of it´s kind, before they started the war or was it just a wild guess?

BTW I found an article on this on BBC online:

Two questions:

Why did it fall to a journalist to find these documents?

As the CIA had already gone through The Ministry of Information, who cocked up?

Who said the journalist found the documents? Could it be they were doing their job and reporting what has been found by others?

It strikes me as strange that professionals like CIA would miss a document as important as this seems to be. The HQ of a intelligence service would be one of the best sites if you´re looking for this kind of information.

The story that Stratos linked to provides the answer to both these questions.

1) The journalist admits it was basically blind luck that he found this particular document.

2) The same journalist said the CIA has several buildings to search, with several offices per building. There are probably hundreds (if not thousands) of documents to search through in each building. Given the size of the task, it would be easy to overlook an individual memo...especially if you don't read Arabic and couldn't glean at least a basic meaning of what you were reading.

3) (my own addition here) There is a LOT of pressure from those watching the Coalition Forces to produce evidence to support the pre-war claims of Bush and Blair. I don't doubt the CIA and other intelligence gatherers are working as quickly as they can to find the necessary documents. When you are looking hurriedly for something, it is easier to make a mistake and overlook something you would otherwise notice.
