I heard this morning the UN is also floating it's own version of a post war plan for Iraq. That's kind of weird, huh?

Why would the UN feel it needs a plan for governing Iraq if it isn't involved with the war? I think it will be cleaner and more precise if the US and Brits go it alone, then will be free to call the shots however they wish, with no need to recognize other useful contributions.

Perhaps the UN is hoping to remove all possibilities of underhanded motives on the part of Britain and the US. By the UN saying that they will govern Iraq if need be, this eliminates any question of integrity and motives for the war.
