Anyone notice that in character creation(im doing multiplayer by myself right now) paladins and rangers are really hard to get some good stats? Other classes you can put the unnecessary attributes all the way down and then max out. Basically i want to know what i should roll for my paladin and my archer(ranger kit). I could be a elven archer and have the bonus dex, but only 17 con which is good for rangers.

I cannot answer your question directly but if you want to see the minimum stats for a particular class then select the class and take the first roll. Try to modify your stats stat by stat. Every time you try a modification, the comment window right to the stats will display minimum and maximum for the modified stat. This way, you can find minimum requirements for a paladin or an archer qickly.
It is a complicated task to roll a really good paladin or ranger because both these classes have high requirements for almost all stats. You cannot victimize almost any stat and get good values for another stats. I suspect the game that it makes a roll and then it redistributes the stats so that they satisfy the class requirements. Therefore, paladins and rangers will have only a few "free" stat points because most of rolls will be only slightly above the base requirements.
Be patient. It is possible to reach a good roll. For example, it is possible to roll a ranger able to dual to a priest. If you aren't too patient then see the offset 27C (or 29C? I am not sure now) in the file with the exported character...

The reason the caracter generation is made like this, is of course an attempt to honour the core D&D rules, where you get 3 roles with a D18 pr stat. But i guess it`s kinda pointless since most people just roll untill they max out their stats, personally i like to just take my chances with the best of 3 roles, it brings some challenge into the game, but that`s just me. Anyway since the game is so packed with magic items you can always find girdles, gauntlets and such to compensate for your lack in stats.

Hmm.....that ain't the way it works in BG1. There, Paladins, Rangers, and Multiclass characters are almost guaranteed good stats because the minimum values force the dice rolls upward, resulting in higher totals than (for example) a Human Thief. I've never played a character in BG2 that I didn't roll in BG1, but if the BG2 rolling system went the way you're describing it, Radek, about half of the Paladins you roll would get 3's in DEX and INT, and I don't think they do. What Darkthief7's problem seems to be is that he's used to dropping everyone's CHA down to 3, and maxing out their STR, DEX, and CON on the very first roll.
