Body of Western woman hostage found in Fallujah

US marines in the Iraqi city of Fallujah have found the body of an older woman, possibly a Westerner. The woman's limbs had been severed and her throat slit. It is not clear whether it is body of the British aid worker Margaret Hassan or the Polish aid worker Teresa Borcz, who were kidnapped recently.

Iraqi and US troops are currently combing Fallujah looking for any remaining rebels.

Meanwhile, US and Iraqi forces say they have restored order in the northern city of Mosul. Contrary to earlier reports, the unrest there is not being caused by rebels fleeing Fallujah but by supporters of Saddam Hussein from northern Iraq. However, the former leader's supporters remain in control of parts of the city, where they are protecting banks and shops against looters after most police officers fled.
