A leaked foreign office document reveals the split with the US over how things are proceeding, and British plans for the future of Iraq re. international involvement etc.

That's just the Foreign Office being anti-American!

I think it's nice to know that the leaders of the UK are continuing to evaluate the best ways to continue in Iraq -- on a military as well as a political level. I am hopeful that the UK has some ideas that the US does not, because differing views bring meaningful discourse and better decisions. I hope my government has been creating similar documents and taking a "hard look."

But leaking the report is an irresponsible political ploy, IMO. If this sort of leakage keeps happening, how can a government be sure it can consider things in confidence, as it should?

And, Donut, quit being an arse.

Lol, yeah Donut And they're not being anti-American, they're disagreeing with the Americans on how best to proceed. Big difference.

From all the behind the scenes stuff going on at the UN it looks like the US has listened as well! Although of course it would be in Bush's interests to get an international force in Iraq, as its rapidly becoming an election issue. Remains to be seen if the Frenchies will throw a spanner in the works of our deadline now they know about it though!
