I am just curious to know who else out there 'wings' it as far as not using a walkthrough or guide? Other then posting questions on the forum I pretty much just cruise around and manage to find lots of trouble. Do you think the game is meant to be played in a sequential manner...or 'willy nilly'??? Or does it not matter? I kind of like not playing in a linear mode, and played most of BGII that way. Occaisionally, I have found that it can screw up certain quests..or scenarios. Opinions?

I never use walkthrougs, only asking friends and such when I'm stuck.

I dont use walkthroughs on RPGs. Some action games I do, but I have refrained from using them on Baldurs Gate. (Im still on the first one).

I don't use walkthroughs because it ruins the story when you know what's going to happen next.

I do happen to have the strat guide for BG2, but I bought it mainly for the quick reference stuff in the back--tons of info on items, spells, monsters--and the information on the different classes in the front.

Don't think of it as being outnumbered, think of it as having a larger target selection available.

I just walkthroughs more as a guide-line to story critical missions. I can't name how many games I've played where I went in blind and killed someone/thing that was game important later on and had to restart the whole game because of it. Thus I don't use them to cheat more as a general map on what truly needs to be done.

Meanwhile my roomy wouldn't even play Mario Bros. with out the cheatcodes on. Muchless Baldur's Gate without constant spoilers *L*

Personally I just prefer walkthrough as an indicator of what I'm supposed to be doing not as a constant referance to what it takes to beat the game.

I never use walkthroughs for games the first time around (the exception being Tomb Raider 3 - cause this game really P*&$%^D me off, and I hate not finishing things). If I get stuck I might look for some help specific to the problem. I sometimes use a walkthrough/guide as a reference (especially in big games like BG1 + BG2), to try to find anything I missed on my second or third play through. Normally if I missed the first time I miss it the second, because that's the way I am. If people want to spoil themselves, that's up to them, I personally think reading what's going to happen ruins the game. I guess some people don't.

I never do on my first try. After I have beaten it, I will just to find out what I missed.
