It was the saddest thing I've ever seen on the news. One of the Jim Beam warehouses burned down, taking 19,000 barrels of whiskey with it. But of course that is only about 2-3% of what they have in storage aging. Yet it is still a sad thing (yes I'm a fan of Jim Beam).

I guess I 'll drink me some whiskey this weekend, as a show of support for good ole Jim Beam. A friend from Ireland left us a bottle of whiskey a while back and its about gone, so this is a good time as any to re-up.

I saw on the news they have cops gaurding a local stream near the fire where some whiskey spilled to stop anyone from getting a free drink.

I think we should declare an international day of mourning.

I only drink Jack D but it's always sad to see good booze go to waste.

Well, at least it wasn't GOOD bourbon. Not to knock JB -- it's gotten me through many a weekend. But, it ain't Woodford Reserve or Wathens. As a Kentuckian at heart, I'm sad to see the loss of jobs.

Wild Turkey (a better taste, IMO) had a fire a few years ago, dumpinb several thousand barrels into the Ohio River, IIRC.

Whoa, that would have been some HUGE dessert if they'd tossed some cherries on it and called it 'dessert flambe'!

I always wondered how places that store that much flammable liquid deal with the fire safety issues! It's pretty scary, how much of that could go up!
