I ordered an Alienware system 2 Months ago--JUST got it today, but that was because Alienware sent me someone ELSES machine .

BUT, Here is what I ordered:

Intel P4 2.4Ghz
1 Gig RAM
Geforce4 4600 128MB Video Ram
60Gb Hard Drive
Nic Card
Soundblaster Audigy Platinum 5.1 (With front panel)
7 (SEVEN!!) Internal Fans
DVD CDROM Drive
40/12/40x CDRW

We took a LOAN out for it since I am broke! , we took it out in Feb too. and just NOW got it because of the screw up. (BTW, the upped me from a 2.2Ghz to a 2.4Ghz because of the mistake!) not bad, but it still cost $2600.

But, because of the work I do here, I HAD to have a new machine. I have an old P3 500Mhz which is slow as hell with current games.. and I gotta do reviews and stuff--and Website Design, 2D/3D Modeling and stuff.. I MAY be paying for this for years ($70 a Month) but It's a must. Atleast the Loan has LOW interest.

ANYWAY... About FedEx.

I got the system today, and as I was about to open the box, I noticed RIGHT AWAY that the black tape that 'seals' the box was opened, and retaped with normal clear tape. I thought to myself "I hope THEY did that at Alienware". Nope.

My Geforce4 4600 128MB Ram video card was MISSING. there was just an empty AGP slot, and no 'fin' covering the missing hole to the outside of the case.

I called Alienware, and explained. Said, "Do you repackage with Clear tape?" NO WAY they said!. Someone in the Warehouses in Tampa FedEx is a F***ING thief!

Alienware said they will ship me out my video card.. I felt like saying "Ship it UPS or unmarked".. (insert 599 expletives)..

I have an ATI card I can use for now, but DAMN.. seems like everything bad happens to me. first, I get someone elses machine. THEN, I get the PC with a missing $300 video card.

Anyway, Alienware IS awesome. Read ANY Gaming rag--#1! Dell uses proprietary parts now, that is why I didn't get one of those. Alienware uses ALL High quality parts. the BEST ram, HD's, CPU's, the CASE is totally awesome.. 7 fans! (I added 2). *video card counts as 1 fan*

If you are looking for a sweet system, one that you can always upgrade and play with, check out www.alienware.com

I can't WAIT to see Morrowind on this new machine.. It was a slide-show on my P3/500Mhz!

Bummer news Z But I have had similar events with UPS, I hate the friggin brown shirts...the Burtonsville depot is one of the biggest black holes for merchandise on the east coast...and at least with Fed-Ex I can go to their office to complain to a PERSON....try that with UPS Seems like you just can't win...so insure everything and document out the wazooooo.

I can't wait to hear the noise those succers are gonna make WRRRRRRRR compaq also has a similar model but the lack of coolant fans is distrubing -_-

Bummer that the GF was stolen, but atleast you got a brand new comp! And thanks for the link, I have for a long time thought of buying a new comp, but I'm a bit short of money now, as I've just bought GameCube +++. But I'll check out the comps there, and beg my folks for money!

$2600!!??!!

Z, dude...

You seem to know a lot about computers...why didn't you just build your own? Alienware makes top-of-the-line systems, but at top-of-the-line prices, too. Last August I built my dream system, and I calculated that I saved about $500 over a comparable Dell system, and even more if I had considered Alienware. It's also very simple to do...

That sounds like a great system, but I agree with Sir Michael.

For $2600 I could build a dual Athlon MP 1800 system with a gig of corsair PC2700 running @ 333 mhz and 2 CAS. 4 60 gig 7200 rpm drives in raid 0 + 1...

The things I could do with $2600!!!

Well, it was easier to do this when taking a PC Loan out. It's harder to do when you build your own..

Oh, I'm sure I paid more, but at the time--My Mom dying, I didn't want to deal with it and build one.. But believe me, if you saw this Rig, you would REALLY say it was worth it.. They are designed SO well.. oh man it's loud.. it's TAKING OFF! HOVERING! 7 Freaking fans!

Ahhh, that's a shame. You surely can't leave Choccy all on her own while you watch your machine fly around the room....it would be mean!!!!
