I bought it allmost at the beginning of the game .. quite sure i'd be running into demons some time ....
But here i am, in the svirneblin ( the weird little dwarves) village, in the *location spoiler* -Underdark-, defeating something called a " Balor " ... I'd say it looks pretty much like a demon ( all red and wingy and stuff) , But my mace, which jerrod apparently owned once , cant hit the darn thing ... I know i need atleast +3 to hit the red birdie on steroids ... but it says: THAC0 +2 / +5 against demons So ..what's wrong ??!?! thx for any replies [img]smile.gif[/img]

It is a demon, but this is quite odd. Maybe someone will know. My guess is that you have a defective mace.

The THACO bonus is not the same as the enchantment level. The two are _normaly_ equal, as is the damage bonus, but enchantment is a third, seperate stat.
*sigh* does anyone else find that IEEE crashes when searching for stuff? Anyway, I finally found the mace's stats and it is only of +2 enchantment.

What is the use of a mace against demons ...
if the mace is only of +2 enchantment !!!@#@#!! Most demons wont get hurt by my 25000 gp worth of worthless hand-space Damn that jerrod !!

Remember that Baalors are the elite demons, among the highest ranking of the True Tana'ri. It makes sense that they should be hard to kill. Your mace should still allow you to fight your way through Hordes of nabassu and such like chaff.
Of course, when it comes to the hordes of Baalor... *shudders*

Bah. Hordes of Baalor? Pfft. Just give me my trusty Flail of the Ages (with its +3 enchantment, good for hitting almost anything) and I'll take them all just by setting my AI to Standard Attack. Provided my Save vs. Death is low enough to withstand their damned Paralyzation attacks, of course, that's the only thing that worries me when I'm low-level.
