Just announced:

New York mayor Rudy Giuliani is to be awarded an honorary knighthood.

The city leader will be honoured for his "outstanding help and support to the bereaved British families in New York".

The city's police commissioner, Bernard Kerik and Fire Commissioner, Thomas Von Essen, are to be awarded honorary CBEs.

Tony Blair said: "Mayor Giuliani provided heroic leadership to the city of New York in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre on September 11, 2001.

"His commitment provided inspiration and his efforts launched a tireless and effective rescue and recovery effort."

."To those in the UK who had friends and families in New York and who watched events with intense anxiety Mayor Giuliani provided the reassurance that everything, absolutely everything, was being done to mobilise the city's resources to deal with the tragedy."

Mr Blair also praised the fire and police forces for their "public service ethos" on September 11 and in its aftermath.

BTW: CBE is Commander of the British Empire (The British what????)

When I read the title I thought you were talking about Rudedawg, we used to call him Rudy too, *sigh* it sure has been a long time since I last read one of his posts, except for the "Dwarven Throwers" thread in the BG2 forum which I revived.
