Is there any use in giving money to these lazy street dwellers? Wil I get a rep bonus at some point or is it just for the roleplaying?

Just for the RPG, no Rep bonus, just a good feeling(?). Besides, if you have too much gold(like me, 176296 gold in chpt 2) from Dungeon scrounging all over the place and selling lots o items, use it for the good of the economy! Or donate it to temples for rep bonus(irrelevant).

Ditto what Suzaki said, plus that in some cases, you can choose to give them a bit extra in trade for information.

I like giving money to the poor. It gives ya a good feeling, unless your an evil thief, which i say backstab em in the shadows and feel good that no more lousy beggars are around to pocket money from you.

Why kill them? Turn them to stone and beautify the city with works of art. Genuine Bhaalspawn made statues, a surefire hit.
