Whenever I play a RTS with varied races/factions, there is always a side that befuddles me. One whose strategies and tactics elude my grasp. In Starcraft, it was the Zerg. In Warcraft III, it was the Humans.

Now for DoW, it is the Eldar...

It sometimes feels like I am punching my guts whenever I play the Eldar. Their required playstyle is well... alien to me. I spent more time trying to keep them from dying like flies, then actually inflicting damage on the enemy, and Eldar Gods save me if the enemy send in Dreadnaughts or Tanks.

Not to mention that it is BLOODY EXPENSIVE to just build the INITIAL troops due to the need to research their stones first. I have to cough out blood too when I want to set up a sub-base elsewhere on the map, because you have to INDIVIDUALLY research the stones per building.

Basically speaking, it is MICROMANAGEMENT HELL for me to play the Eldar. It is fine and dandy to have extensive micromanagement when you are playing a turn-based game, and I throughly enjoy such games, but it is utterly insane when you try to apply it to a RTS!

At the moment, I prefer the factions in the following order,

Chaos Marines
Space Marines
Space Orks
Eldar

Can anybody point me to an online guide for the Eldar?

Well, the Eldar are the micromanagement race, as a plus side they get the AWESOME Avatar who doesn't lose health when not in battle, and does ALOT of damage. Also, they are amazing at destroying morale.
Just don't go toe to toe with any of the races, and you should be fine.

Eldar! I love the Eldar! Ain't nothing better than a Warp Spider I tell ya!
Tips:
After building the first Guardian squad and the second Bonesinger, take the nearest point, and build a generator with the Bonesingers. As the gen is done, have them build an Aspect stone and then to fortify the listening post. Train a team of Warp Spiders, and try to research the Optics ASAP. Warp Spiders rule because they're fast, strike hard and can harrass the hell out of anyone. And if things look grim, just teleport away.
Anyways, after you have the frist few buildings set up and some 500 excess requisition and energy, make the Seer Council and the hero. Witchblades are also a good upgrade, but don't bother if you haven't the money. Just make a few more Warp Spiders.
You'll get the hand of it in no time. Just remember to seed the map with those Webway gates and all will be well.

Thankyou.

I was wondering, if out of any of the WH games, is it converted from the table top game.

As in , spending points on your army, and it's moved in turns etc, or calculated by dice rolls?

Closest I can think of are Final Liberation and Rites of War, but those are WH40K. Personally, I think if you want to play by the tabletop rules, play tabletop.

Most of these Warhammer games just emulate the tabletop experience by converting them into more fluid gameplay. I mean, since you have the ability to utilise the computer, why not try to enhance the experience?

Out of out the WH40K games I have played, Chaos Gate and Dawn of War hold special spots in my gamer's heart. The former being a turn based strategy game, while the latter is a RTS.

Rites of War is pretty okay too.

Woo! I played my first match against human players in a 3v3 game and won! True... I got massarced in a co-ordinated attack, but I managed to crawl back from the brink of death and kick enough ass to get second spot in the game summary.

The moral of the story is... make sure you finish the job when attacking somebody in a RTS.

I am K_Frostbane, the Chaos player in the bottom right of the map.

Replay!
