JUST MAKE SURE YOUR LEADER HAS HIGH CHARISMA AND EVERYTHING WILL BE O.K, AND STOP TYPING LIKE THIS.

If you want to lead your party, what you shouldn't do, ever, is make him a mage, thief, bard or druid. These clases or rather weak. Either because of the fact that they can not wear armor or because they can only wear leather armor. Besides some (like the mage) have low hitpoints as well. Or you could combine it with the fighter class (ie make a multi class or dual class later in the game).

[B]This is very easy!!

Make sure that your leader is a Warrior.Nothing else will suffice for a leader. But I disagree when someone said that Mages/Theifs/Bards are poor leaders.

If YOU want to be the leader, be a Fighter. If however, you really want to be a Mage,be a Mage.Just make sure that as soon as possible, you get a fighter - i.e Khalid. Then transfer him to the lead of your party,so he then becomes the front of your party, and your Mage can stay at the back and decimate people from there.Simple!!

This was my party that I completed BG with:

1.Lavindathar (FIGHTER)
2.Khalid (FIGHTER)
3.Kivan (RANGER)
4.Jaheira (DRUID/FIGHTER)
5.Xan (MAGE)
6.Imoen (THEIF)

ATTENTION LAVINDATHAR

Please dont leave html tags open just to make your sig look another color, it can screw up the whole thread, making all the posts look that color ok ?? HTML isnt allowed in sigs, so youŽll gotta live with it .

It seems you have done this several time, i ask you not to do it again.

Neither Darkness Nor Light,Good nor Evil Will Prevail.

Only Lavindathar.

If you change the formation of your party (ie switch your main char. who is leading the party with someone else), he is not leading the party anymore. I was under the impression that this person wanted to have his main char. lead the party at all times. So therefor i said that it should not be a mage, etc.
