Holy cow, is that a nice game. I don't see anyone talking about it normally (don't know why though), but it handles really nice, and it's so darn addicting. ) Only problem is that it's short (3 days and I'm already more than halfway done), but I think I can still go around and do stuff after the official 'missions' are done.

Does anyone here play MP? If so, what's it like? Is it like Diablo 2 (private game) or Everquest (open game)? And do you get the SP missions?

its a good linear game. at the end of the game though it gets kinda boring over and over again. The ships are absoloutly uneven and unpractical at the end of the game. You are stuck in a ship. But for linear single player is pretty good.

there is a game that is open ended called x2. That is where you can build a entire fleet and facilities. Its pretty hard to understand and all. Takes a long time to just figure out how to play it.

I think I finished the game about a year ago. It is fun as long as most of the system are "undiscovered". However, after getting the best (or the meanest) fighter and exploring every corner of the sector, there isn't much to do anymore.

But if you prefer, you could join in one of the servers and have a good kick at multiplayer aspect of the game. I haven't tried it but from what I heard, it is quite fun to play with/against other human players. But I have no idea how PvP is handled in online servers.

Oh, here is a good site for downloading mods and stuff.

Yes, the game is easily sandboxed. Aside from the first couple of missions that get you started, you don't have to follow the story at all. In MP you don't play the missions.

It was a fun game. Well worth the money Although personally, I'm still waiting for Elite 4 (it's coming!)

O, goody, can't wait for Elite 4!
I think the game was quite good, and the controls were nice with the strafing and true strafing runs. There's some challenging momnts like where you encounter three Valkiryes in the first sector/quadrant/state/whatever. Gets a whole lot easy when you get a true fighter and some Sunslayer torpedoes.

Freelancer is easily one of my favourite games, just the ability to do anything, the graphics, gameplay, controls and in multiplayer you can be a trader, goody-goody, Baddie-baddie, or a freelancer. (No pun intended)
