Korgan's incredibly high THAC0??

Hello all. I'm in Chapter 2 of BG2 and have Korgan in the party. Whilst looking at the various Records last night I noticed that his THAC0 is 32, modified to 27. This seems very very high to me, even my THAC0 as a mage is 18, modified to 16. All the other characters have something similar or lower.

Korgan's not been level drained, diseases or anything else permanent, no cursed items etc. - is he naturally that bad at hitting or is there something else odd up??

nah, i wouldn`t be logical if korgan would have +11 THACO more than a mage. this is a bug or something, because i have korgan in my party, he`s lvl 9, has a +2 war hammer and has 6 THACO

Umm... well it could be a bug because in my Evil games he has been quite a good hit.... has he been Blinded?? That seriously knocks up the thac0...

Do you have a Cleric who casted Holy Smite while Korgan was in the range of that spell? It permanently blinds all evil beings, and that works on party members too. I've heard that to restore his normal THAC0, you'll have to cast Restoration or Lesser Restoration on the affected party member. If no one in your party has the spell memorized, it can be bought at a temple. Even if Holy Smite wasn't the cause, there's a good chance Restoration will help.

hmmm I dunno cause Viconia Often gets caught In Aerie Holy Smites but doesnt go Blind.... so mightnt b that...

Actually I did just that in an earlier battle - I saw it damaged Korgan a bit but seeing as there was 5 undead around him I didn't mind - I didn't know it blinded them too.

I'm in work now (boo!) so I'll try Lesser Restoration on him when I get home - many thanks for your help.

Also note that Ghasts give problems with THAC0. When you get diseased by one, the THAC0 is increased, even after you cure disease, until you level up (in which case it can say stuff like THAC0 reduced by 6). I'm not sure if this is a bug, but it's always happened by me, so see what happens when you level up, and as well as casting the restoration spells, cast heal, since that cures blindness.

On a related note, I've found that Golems can play hell with your AC when they cast Golem Slow. Not only does it hurt your AC (by 4, I think), but it can affect multiple party members and it's CUMULATIVE. I finally noticed it after tangling with some Adamantium Golems and saw that my Tank's AC is now 8. Don't worry, it wears off after a round or two.

(My Imoen has an AC 2 levels better than it should be, and I don't know why.)

iron golems don't do that. i think stone do. anyway, all you have to do is dispell magic, and all will be good
