Okay, this is an essential quest, which forms the backbone of this magnificent game (the best Bioware RPG, I might add). Emoric and Sharegrave tell you to find out where Pharod is getting his corpses from. Approach Pharod, and he tells you that he will tell you his secret when you get him the gold globe, or whatever. Get that, back to Pharod...but my problem is, he didn't spill his guts to me!!! I got Annah, and now Pharod's dead, and the quest is left incomplete!! I have read somewhere you must lie to Pharod to get him to tell you his secret. I'm sure I asked him every selectable dialogue option, though. What have I missed? Please help...it is very dissatisfying!!!

I think you have to have high intelligence to get the right options. It's not really an important quest. I normally wouldn't do it because i would vow not to tell anyone pharod's secret, and it didn't affect thegame for me. Don't know where you got the idea that it's the "backbone" of the game.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Well, my character has an intelligence of only 9 or 10 or so, so could that be the problem? I'm primarily made him a fighter, and I'm tanking through the game.

It just seems such an essential quest...it annoys me that I can't complete it. Oh well.

There's nothing wrong with being a fighter, but this is an RPG apart from your usual dungeon crawl, and it's a lot more rewarding to be a mage, or indeed a fighter, but use the characteristic gained on level to boost your intelligence, wisdom and charisma. This is one game where they really are extremely useful!

Xanderwatts is right, you miss a lot of dialogue options if you're INT and CHA aren't high, wisdom gives you massive exp bonuses as well as helping you remember things.

Exactly. The game almost screams out at you to be a mage (max out INT, WIS, and CHR as soon as possible, if you plan to do the dialog options).

That's what I have been hearing from many...I didn't realise this until I had made it up to half way through the game or so. Methinks I shall play this game again with a mage character, to see all the extra stuff, and also because it is such an intriguing, fascinating, creative and mind melting adventure.

Not only do you get the better dialog options by maxing out the mental stats, but magic in the game rocks (both from the animations and the power level). You could play fighter or thief, but if you truly want to experience the full storyline (the main selling point of the game), then it is best to play a mage.
