Gee, isn't this not surprising. Well once again, I stumbled upon the new and Better Sim City, this time, i have the URL. http://simcity.ea.com/simcity4/

This is 50x better than the last. Kick@$$ graphics that'll blow you away. New disasters including volcanos. And they've made the game a lot easier for players. This is a copy of part of the interview that explains the easier gameplay.

If your city isn't developing, there's often not a clear clue as to why. This time around things have been made a bit more clear and, for those who need it, there are even a few shortcuts to ease the burden of creating a city.

One way the game eases the burden is by providing automated infrastructure. Previous SimCity games have forced the player to plot their own streets, power lines, water pipes, and subways. This time around, if you want to do away with all that, you can let the game handle those tasks for you. Anal-types (like myself) will be glad to know that this automatic infrastructure is completely optional; if you dig placing roads and power lines yourself, go nuts.

As you place your various civic buildings, you'll see a ring indicating their area of effect as well as the areas covered by all existing buildings. This is useful for making sure you keep the coverage from your hospitals, schools, and emergency services in the areas where it's needed most. You can also change the overall funding level for any branch of your city services as well as setting the separate funding levels for individual buildings. This means that you can tailor and fine-tune the separate neighborhoods based on their particular problems -- poor education, high crime, low income, etc.

But raising the police funding level isn't necessarily the answer to crime. "Crime isn't simply about putting the police station down and suppressing crime in a certain place," says Sean. "Crime is generated from poor, less educated areas. Those areas create crime and you'll see those crimes in the city -- something like a car getting stolen. But like in every city, those don't necessarily happen in places where the crime is being created." Criminals are bred in neighborhoods, but the opportunities for criminal activity might be more profitable elsewhere. You'll see criminals go to other, more affluent areas to steal cars, for instance.

You can also import your Sims from the game The Sims, and they tell you how the city is running, is it good, bad, high crime. For those of us who don't have the Sims, they made custome Sims for us to place in the city.
