About to start another new character in Morrowind, utilizing many of my favorite skills from previous characters. My goal is a sort of mercenary light infantry class. I've never done the Hlaalu quests, so I figure I should give them a try. On to the questions!

#1) I've read that if you magically boost skills over 100, they continue to improve - in particular I read something where a person raised their unarmored and hand to hand to make them more effective. My question is, what would the benefit be to the block skill, or HOW MUCH of a benefit would this bring? Assume a daedric tower shield enchanted as much as possible to raise block - does anyone have the numbers to figure that out? How about a dragonscale shield, as its my favorite type?

#2) My favorite armors are medium, and I plan to use them in this run through. I love the imperial dragonscale pieces, but I can never find full suits of them. Do all the parts exist in game, or just the helm, shield, and cuirass? Ditto for the newtscale, although I know that one is light.

Thanks for the info! I'm trying to come up with all the skills for my character at the moment, so far I've got medium armor, block, short blade for majors and sneak, security, and unarmored for minor.

1. Raising your block skill above 100 will certainly improve its rate of success. But keep in mind, governing attributes are the highest multiplier used to calculate the outcome of an action. Skill ratings are a distant second. Conveniently, daedric tower shields also have the highest enchantment potential of ALL the unscripted items. If you want to use a dragonscale shield, consider the "super_uber_enchantments" mod (or something.) Not nearly as game-breaking as it sounds and, IMO, essential for happy enchanting in Morrowind.

2. Nope. Those armours aren't complete sets. Fortunately, there are bundles of other clothing and armour items to mix and match with. With a little patience, you'll end up with something better looking than a stand alone set.

Thanks for the response - I checked planetelderscrolls and couldn't find a super enchantments mod - do you know where I can find it? I did find a complete set of dragonscale armor made by a modder, but of course he (or she) upped the armor rating so its super overpowered.

I didn't realize that attributes were more important than skill ratings - I'll keep that in mind when I start playing!

I'd tell you the exact name of the mod, but i don't know it, sorry. All my morrowind stuff is on my old computer which is miles away. Probably got it from MorrowindSummit (which appears to have vanished) but there are likely to be several variants floating around on different sites. The only feature of the mod is to raise enchantment limits of all non-scripted weapons and armour to ridiculous levels granting you some much needed freedom of creativity when making items.

Ah ha! Just found an enchantment improvements mod that raises the limits... hopefully with this addition my desire to roleplay and wear the dragonscale will not cause me to die too many times!
