I've been traversing the ashlands lately and i've noticed that every so often i hear sheep sounds. where is that coming from? i never see any sheep. all i usually encounter are cliff racers, nix hounds, kagouti and alte's.

hehehe nah, i'm not smoking anything. i wish i were, though. it would make morrowind even more interesting.

mayhaps it isn't *exactly* like a sheep's "beh" sound but it is close and certainly doesn't sound like any monster that roams the ashlands.

seriously, i know i hear those sounds that resemble sheep. i don't suppose that morrowind has some undocumented demo recording facility built in? Perhaps i'll fire up the construction kit and see if i can find the sound file that sounds like what i'm hearing.

Ah...i know what you mean now... those sounds come from the Bull and Betty Netches up in the air. I believe it's the Betty netches who make the sheepish sounds.

they get really mad when you hit them...damn are they tough, mostly because they are hard to hit in the air

No no no, the sheep sounds are actually sound effects implemented into the games. You can find them by accessing the sounds folder, I forget which file. They are no monster, just an ambient sound. You also hear them in Ald'ruhn and stuff.

Edit: Found the file.
Go to the Morrowind folder-sound-fx-regn-howl 7.

Have fun playing with sheepies all night

I thought I've heard some sheep sound too. But I don't have the game installed to find out.

Yup. Though I have always wondered the purpose for this sound. Maybe there are flying sheep looking down at us, just waiting to swoop down and eat us with their cottony talons.
