Telvanni stronghold alchemy equipment

So my stronghold isn't quite finished yet, I just gave the chick the animiculi book. But it's so I can go in and sleep there and it has the two people's houses - it's at stage 2. Anyway, I went in and there was a chest on the second level with some alchemy equipment in it. I had read somewhere that there was a whole set of grandmaster equipment which I was looking forward to, however all that was there was a grandmaster mortal and pestle, plus two journeyman pieces (I think calcinator and alembic). Oh well, I have master's of all the other stuff so I didn't worry.

Then I went to see one of my new friends in their brand new mushroom houses. Then I came back to have a snooze in my brand new bed, and checked my alchemy equipment chest again. To my surprise there was now a grandmaster alembic, journeyman alembic, and apprentice mortar and pestle and nothing else! Is this normal? Is it just because my stronghold isn't finished that I have a seemingly magical chest of guess-what-alchemy-equipment-is-in-here-now? If I put my own stuff in there will it disappear?

YES!! every time you open it empty it! then put the stuff in a different box and then every day check to see what's in the box. I think it's a bug but I got all kinds of stuff from it.

How weird! Thanks for the answer, CB! I actually did take out the grandmaster stuff just in case it disappeared, and didn't put anything else in it (a shame really, there's a real lack of boxes in that stronghold. Though I have made a lovely showing of the shelves ).
