I've noticed that it seems like I have a LOT less than 990 skill points that are possible to gain in major and minor skills...does that mean I can't reach, say level 100?

Simple, just commit a crime, let yourself go to jail. when you go out your major/minor skill has lowered. Thus you can train them to gain more level up. I've heard somebody gain as high as Level 500ish.

Another possibility: If you have a master trainer for some of your essential skills then you can "train" such skill by the master trainer even if it is already at 100. The skill will not go up (it cannot) but the trainings will count to your "progress to next level". You will level up after 10 trainings as usual. Repeat. Until you get level 100. Or 200.

All about the continent, really. You sometimes find them in the most unlikely places...

They don't really advertise themselves. There's a master trainer for every skill (except shield or something? And the enchanter is tricky too). The only way to know ingame is if they keep training you all the way up to 100 in whatever skill they're master in. All others stop after a certain point because they aren't skilled enough to train you anymore. Your best bet if you want to know exactly where they are is find a list of them in a walkthrough. I'm sure someone here has a list as well; the site I used to use is gone now

Go to www.gamefaqs.com and type Morrowind on the search. From the result click on the FAQ. search for master trainer from the list. sorry but I cannot link directly to a gamefaqs file.
