I have just bought Morrowind along with the expansion pack, and having read all the blurb I can find no indication of how long this game takes to play. I am aware that one of it's major plus sides is that it is open ended, but I assume there is some point in the major quest where you can call it quits, and retire as it were. I'm curious to see how long people have played this for, I mean are we talking weeks, months (or years)?

That depends completely on yourself, are you willing to do every single quest from every single guild ? Are you willing to visit every tomb or cave you encounter ? And most of all.... how long do you play each day ?

A lot will depend on how thoroughly you want to explore Vvardenfell. Some people play virtually non stop for a few weeks. Others, like myself, have been playing for months and are not even half way yet. I figure it will take me the better part of the year.

Staralfur, I think if you were to stick to the main plot, you could beat the game in a couple of months if you played regularly.

On a side note, I recently read that there are people still wandering around in the neverending Elder Scrolls 2. haha. Thank God Morrowind isn't like that ...

if youre an average, probably like 8 months, if you like exploring 3 or more years. You almost never get bored

Years ? You guys are kidding, right ? The first time i finished the game it took me 2 months, maybe a little shorter. Once i was done i was at level 55, completed the fighters guild, was ranked wizard in the mages guild, and completed the imperial cult. And of course the main quest. The further i got, the more curious i became how it all ended. So, IF you really want to, you can finish the game pretty quick. Right now, i'm playing it for the second time, and now i'm exploring a lot more, joined more guilds, and am already at level 76, i figure this time it WILL take me a long time to finish the game. But only because i choose to play it like this.

if you have already completed the game once then it only takes a week or less to do it again, im sure plenty of people on the forum have managed that, but that banks on you know where to go straight off and ignore most of the sidequests. But for first time players it can take months or even years depending how you approach it, thats the beauty of the game, me personally i played it for a fair while and still havent bothered to complete it, though i'll get round to it eventually im sure

I didnt start the main quest until my 5th Character and about 3-4 months after getting it, and I play most nights for a couple of hours.

The game is massive and i rolleplay anyway so, spend 2 hours in a morning going for a run and swim, have lunch, visit some friends for a chat, then another day on a quest or just having a walk, when i get bored I go to my holiday home in Suran for a week, spending most of the time in the Bar with an adult theme, (thanks to whoever made the mod)

Then a couple of days touring round, might find a place to erect another house, build that on the tes and each day put the mod on as a half built house etc. until completed 3-4 days later.

It is all about how you want to play the game, if you just powergame and run everywhere (If you like it its your choice, you bought the game for you to play) then the game could be complete within a couple of weeks i guess, but myself, it is a game and a challenge i enjoy so with all the Mods with quests that are still to complete this game will last me another couple of years, and on top of that tribunal as well (BTW anyone know when this is released in the UK?) Could be even longer.

All for less than 30 quid, cant be bad

This is the game that never ends, it just goes on and on my friends. Some people started playing it not knowing what it was, and they'll continue playing it forever...just because this is the game that never ends, it just goes on and on my friends. Some people.....ummmm I'm okay now.
