Fork of horripilation. Kill a bull?

I'm at the utmost north island and I've spoken with the madman, and gotten the fork of horripilation. I seem to remember that a statue in the sewers of Vivec wanted me to return the fork to him after I had killed a bull (or something).. The log says I will find this "bull's netch" to the east of the island I found the fork on. Is this true? I searched the entire island BEFORE I got the fork. Will a door or a monster magically appear if I have the fork?

And is it the island due east, or south-east with the shrine on it? Also, there are 2 islands to the east of the fork-island. Is it the closest or the furthest one?

Please help

I haven't done this quest, but a Bull Netch is one of those floating jellyfish like things just seems to have a sort of shell on it. Looks like a cross between a netch and a silt strider. Guess there's one in that area you need to kill.

Thanks, man. I had already killed him before I read your post, but that tip of yours would have done the trick if I hadn't.

The bad news, is that you have to kill the beast with the fork of horripilation, which deals about 3 in dmg.
The good news is that you can beat the beast to death with whatever you want, and quickly equip the fork to get the quest complete..

I snuck in a soul-taker-scroll, as I don't really know how high up this thing is in the hierarchal ladder. (spelling on "hierarchal", please)

err..pardon me for asking, I've just got this quest as well. Is the madman's island is all the way upnorth near dagon fel area? I don't understand what the journal is saying.

If you get to dragon fel.. it's westwards.. there's a bunch of islands, it's not the oval one, but the circular one.. the madman and the fork is there. (the fork is on the table along with the other dining utensils. Afterwards you swim directly to the island due east (where you came from, if you arrived from Dragon Fel) and kill the bull-thing. You can kill it with another weapon (as the fork only has 3 in dmg) and quickly equip the fork, and the quest will be accomplished.. you have to be quick though. Remember to check your log. It will update either way if you fail or accomplish the quest, so quicksave before you attack the bull.

you will take forever to kill a bull netch with a little tiny fork what you can do is set netch on fire with lasting effects then pull out fork and attack with it. as long as the fork is equiped when the netch dies.
