The Ebony Shortsword of Odai Plateau..

Hey all,

Just have a quick question. I've been run ragged looking for the Ebony Shortsword which is supposed to lying out in the open in the Odai Plateau area where the Hlaalu stronghold eventually is built. Based on the strategy guide, its supposed to be just southwest of this area, near a cluster of boulders, but I have run through that area in broad daylight over and over and can't find any sign of the ebony shortsword.. I could really use it, as my character is a short blade user and i'm tired of using the steel shortsword, so any assistance (detailed location instructions..?) would be greatly appreciated ^_^

I haven't found an Ebony Shortsword in this area, but after my stronghold got built (Hlaalu), there was one Ebony Shortsword on one of the tables in the second floor. I wonder if the strategy guide confused that...

Well, I've figured it out. Bethesda goofed! The shortsword is excatly where the strategy guide says it is, in the southwest corner of the Odai Plateau area, near a cluster of boulders.. which is all well and good, except for one LITTLE problem.

Its two feet underground.

Yep, thats right, they placed an item there for players to find, only its under the ground so no players can ever get to it. I figured this out when I opened up the ESM in the construction kit to see what was the matter.. I wonder why the strategy guide says its there when the master file has it mispositioned. My guess is that they made the strategy guide using the construction kit and never bothered to check the actual GAME to see if it was placed properly.

Blah, sloppy. Oh well, the esay fix was to create a plugin which had the sword moved up, so that the hilt was sticking out of the ground, much like the Sword in the Stone. Worked great, and I recommend to anyone being driven crazy trying to find this 10,000 gold sword to do the same.

Tsk tsk, Bethesda, you better come up with a patch =p

I spent about six hours of gaming combing that whole plateau looking for that thing, even though I didn't need it for my skills. I sure could have used the cash for selling it, though. Thanks for the info, Charmy.
