When it comes to talk about best weapons this awesome Halberd is never mentioned. Most people boast Carsomyr, Crom Faeyr and even the Equalizer.
Minsc now uses the Wave as his standard weapon in my party and does cruel damage.
Plus it slays those annoying Efreets who keep regenerating in Gaseous form. (The King Strohm quest is a glitch with this Halberd equipped).
It is also simple to assemble compared to Crom Faeyr or the Equalizer
and easy to get, as you don't have to fight the fiery red beast for it (well you could pickpocket Firkraag for the Holy Avenger, although I never tried)

He's a dragon. He has no pockets. There is only one place he can keep that sword hidden. Eww...

Full body cavity search for Mr Firkraag?

It is a great weapon. In my party minsc has it as a secondary weapon, after the silver sword, and a bow in the final slot.

Halberds are, I think, the most overlooked weapon in the game. You have the Wave, Dragons bane, Duskblade, Dragon's breath

Is the silver sword good? I fought like hell to get it, and once Cromey-boy made it for me I was a bit bummed by its stats. What am I not seeing?

Dragon's Breath and Wave are two of my favorite weapons in SoA. I wish they had upgrades in ToB -- the Wave to do double damage to Fire Giants, for example, and Dragon's Breath to be at least as good in damage as the Flail of Ages becomes.

I do use lillicor when fighting the monsters that confuse me. (Like women?)

I've held on to many weapons -- ones to fight undead, ones to fight dragons, ones to fight giants, ones to use if I ever get proficiencies in new weapons. I want to use the flail of ages, but no one has proficiencies in flail. It gets a bit frustrating.

I also think that the wave is a good weapon.
However unless you do the underdark fairly early you don't get to fully enjoy its benefits,The same goes for the Silver sword and any other item that requires components from the underdark.
I also think that the wave deserved an upgrade at ToB.
In PnP it is a +6 Trident with lots of powers and here "only" a +4 halberd...
