Elsewhere, in the same town...Mormegil was speaking to a man that had answered a summons for an able-bodied person who knew how to fight, loved adventure, and could guard a man's life. Thus, he met a man by the name of Karthias at his home that day, and was about to pay him in advance for the trip they were to make, then set out to a particular tavern by the name of "The Crying Phoenix", where they were to meet with the captin of a ship, who was to be paid for a voyage across the sea.
"So, Karthias is it? Welcome to my home, though I regret to mention that our time is so short that I cannot even invite you in for tea. We have the captin of the vessle we are to travel upon on this adventure waiting across town for us right now, and we must hurry or be left behind. Here is the amount of gold you have asked for, and in the bag...you will find another gift that I included from my grandfather's estate. I hope you will like it. Have ye any questions before we are on our way to The Crying Phoenix?" OOC>>>With the permission of the DM...I have paid Karthias 50,000 gold and have given him a ring of fire resistance equal to the one I own. It seems only fitting that he would do so for his hired bodyguard. oh..."OOC" on these forums means Out of Character...just in case you were wondering. ![]() |

ooc>>Sorry I didnt post before, ran outa time
I have nae questions Mormegil sir, let us be on our way for I fear there is no use us standing about when we could be to the job, there is this one thing though, can I take some of the loot we may find on this adventure? Id also like to say thank you for the money up front, Il be expecting the other half if you get back all well and good, and since you added in the extra I am willing to cut the other half down to a quarter providing I get to keep this ring forever. Anyway, enough of my ramblings, to the crying pheonix it is! ooc>> My character has low int remember, he doesnt know whether he is allowed the ring for keeps or not. ooc>> Is that all right about the other gold, thought Id add it. "Aye sir...you can keep the ring, it is a gift...and I will pay you the full second-half as I promised after I have returned home safely. In fact...if you ensure my safe return...I will let you choose one maic item from my horde aside from the payment. I have only one goal on this trip, and it is to kill a red dragon as my grand-dad did long ago. Any treasure found will be split up into equal parts among all that are with us, if there be more than the two of us.
Now...let us haste away." The two men climb up into the coach of Mormegil's private horse-drawn carriage and they are taken to the tavern. The trip takes fifteen minutes. "Here we are. And now we just have to find this captin that will be taking us aboard. I know nothing about this gentleman, so be on your guard. He may try to scoundrel us." The two men climb down from the carriage and enter the building, looking for the man they were to meet here. |

Skye continued to play upon her elvish harp and sing, occasionally receiving a coin or two from the patrons of The Crying Pheonix, while she watched the comings and goings of the people.
"I thought you said you wanted to book a spot on a ship," a handsome elf, hidden beneath a silvery-blue cloak, grumbled. "And that's exactly what I'm doing, I heard there's some people with decent ships who meet in this tavern. And this way I can earn some extra coin at the same time," the half-elf replied, still smiling at the half-listening patrons. Two characters caught her eye, one dressed like a swashbuckler, the other in whaleskin. "Now of those two don't own boats, then I'm an orc," she murmured, directing her companion's attention towards them. "I'll keep an eye on them," he replied, eyeing the richly dressed man and company that just entered the building. |

In the other part of the city. In captain Coruno ship Esmeralda. A big ugly beast is looking out of an little window below deck. He is looking on the people who walks by.
WHY?? Why dosent anyone out there look like me??Why.He thinks. The beast name is Nadrak and he is an half orc. And why must i stay in this old ship when everyone are in the town?? I could go there and if someone would stare at me I just could smash them. But Coruno has been so nice to me. And if he tells me to stay on the ship I will do that. I hope Coruno are back soon. But why dosent anyone look like me?? |

Mormegil was already feeling that he had made a wise choice in buying the service of this brute. Offering him more than he had first offered had also strengthened the surety of his service, for every man only cared for one thing. To be as rich as he was. He knew that this man would guard him at least until they had found a dragon, and after the horde was found...if a horde was found...then Mormegil would have to begin worrying. Afterall...what mattereth a few more gold and promise of another trinket if the horde found in the future were large enough to satisfy?
He followed their summoner to the table where the captain was found, looked at the map idly...and then was reminded of the price for the voyage. "Why of course, good sir. I have come prepared to pay for my voyage. Now...about that...I had agreed to pay for the passage of one...but now that I have persuaded another to come onboard with me, do you not think that I might be allowed a discount of 1.5 times the amount paid by me instead of me paying for two seperate people? I am sure you are an honest man and can see my point." OOC>>>DM, I ask for a roll to determine if I succeeded in making the deal. |
