[Merlin Al'Thor]

this is open to anyone but for this kind of story i'll think i'll like fewer people.

"Help! Help me Merlin!" rang throughout the dust covered cave. The person yelling was fair of height and slightly handsome accept his face was masked with heavy dirt and he smelt of dead deer. He screamed again, this time softly as his attentions was taken up by trying to crawl out of the cave to safety. Deeper in the cave came hoarsy calls of "Bring Merlin or i'll kill your dearest." sobbing the man mustered his strength, got up and limped away.

Under a lighted candle Merlin Al'Thor, High mage of Candlekeep, could be found reading one of the numourous books that littered the library. Deep into the last chapter Merlin lost himself in the book only to be awakened by distant sounds of shouting and the clang of steal. Signing audibly, he marked the page and loosed the knife on his belt, and rushed quickly outside. There he saw a peasant, Waterdeep in his accent and appearance, trying to get past his guards. From the corner rushed...

And now someone makes an intro...

Out of boredom i'm writing a new thread.

Ignoring the person for now u turn to adress the peasant. "What do u want, peasant. surely there are better places to be than here." The peasant is shocked at first but then recovers and stammers in a rough voice "My..My..My lo..r..d" "DON'T STAMMER IN FRONT OF THE HIGH MAGE OR I'LL BEAT U SILLY" yells the guard holding him.

Now out of boredom i'm stopping writing. i'll check back tommorow.

In the distance a tall, handsome and bare-chinned stranger with golden-brown skin and long, black hair approached, dressed in robes such as were worn by the menfolk of Seres, a great kingdom two years away on horseback in the direction of the East. A great glowing katana could be seen slung on his back, almost as long as he was tall, with strange but beautiful writings etched into the metal along the full length of the blade.

Chiao Fung had been travelling for many moons now. When shall he ever find what he seeks? As he pondered this, he noticed two figures several dozen paces ahead, apparently engaged in some sort of commotion. Looking more carefully, he made out a guard holding a stammering peasant.

Chiao Fung ran closer. "Ho, friends," he cried, "what's the problem? Why belabor the poor peasant so? Do go easy on him, please."

(ooc> Chiao Fung [pronounced 'Chee-ow Foong'] is a neutral good human character. The powers of his katana -- his only weapon/magic item -- are as follows:

~ can fly at enormous speed (let's say twice as fast as an average crossbow bolt).

~ semi-sentient -- can act on its own to help wielder e.g. attack an assassin who's sneaking up on wielder.

~ glows with a strong light that can illuminate up to 30 feet (and can be turned off).

~ can sense danger and warn wielder.

~ +6 to hit/damage, with 10% chance/attack of scoring a critical hit.

~ can be remote-controlled by wielder's mind, so wielder can will it to fly to an enemy and attack.

In addition, Chiao Fung knows how to cast heal serious wounds and a protective power shield on himself and others.

As you might notice, the sword's much less powerful now than in the earlier thread. Any problem? If you still don't like the sword -- okay, I'll remove it... )

"Quiet u this peasant is under the watchful gaze of... WAIT A MINUTE how did u get in here!! Guards seize this riff raf!". Merlin watches curiously from a distant to see if this man is crack up to what he's supposed to be.

"I'm merely a traveller from a faraway land who's on a personal quest," explained Chiao Fung in a gentle but firm voice. "If this place is supposed to be out of bounds to outsiders, I did not know it and I apologise. I can leave right now if you so wish. But nevertheless, if you'll allow me to speak my mind, I do think you're being harsh on this poor peasant."

Merlin nods his head in agreement and halts his guards with a loud shout. He turns to the stranger and says "This peasant intruded on our land and i'm questioning him, that is all. You may stay if u wish to do so." Merlin turns and speaks to the Peasant "what ARE you doing here. My place has no shelters left for the poor, i'm truly sorry."
The peasant looks surprised but speaks out quite clearly "Me and my brother, Mellisano, were... were exploring this cave we found and we saw a hairy, large beast deep inside the ca..ve. It attacked us and me and my bro being no soldiers, ran for our lives. It shouted out bring Merlin, bring Merlin and i know that u are Merlin... please if not for that foul beast then please save my bro who is still trapped in there!! Please i know u are a wizard of no small skill. Please!!"
Merlin stares at the peasant, pondering and finally says "i would help, but i'll need strong hands to back me up, and i cannot spare any guards or golems. and if i do happen to find a fighter, he has to work for free for i'm poor at the moment."
Merlin studies the person with the Katana thoughtfully.

Upon hearing the peasant's story, Chiao Fung turned to Merlin. "Greetings, Sir," said Chiao Fung with a slight bow and a fist cupped in the other hand. "I'm Chiao Fung, a traveller on a personal quest. I humbly apologise for my extreme rudeness in intruding upon your premises -- I merely felt sorry for this peasant." Chiao Fung turned to look at the peasant for a moment before turning back to Merlin. "His predicament appears dire, Sir," continued Chiao Fung. "Do you reckon you could help him? If not, I shall."

Merlin turns to regard the man in full
"of course i'll help him, but i'll need a fighter guarding me. If u know how to use that Katana, Chiao Fung, then perhaps u can help me. I however can offer u little in return"

"That is of no concern to me, Sir," replied Chiao Fung with a smile while placing a hand on the peasant's shoulder. "My only concern is to offer what help I can to this man."

Suddenly Chiao Fung stopped smiling while the katana on his back began to pulsate with light. "My katana... warning me of danger!"

[Merlin Al'Thor]

Merlin looks around warily and quickly, but sees nothing. The guards grow uneasy. Merlin casts "Sword of the heavens" into his hands.

Sword of the heavens does +3 damage, with an AC of +3 and upon contact with Undead, destroys them.
