Okay, so I found the secret door with the mind flayers and umber hulks hidden inside. I dispatched them all and found the letter from the apparent head mind flayer. But I don't get credit from Helm Cleric, so i'm obviously missing something. A little help.....

Also, I remember getting a quest to in the Govt district to find someone and bring them to justice (I think), but it's no longer in my journal and I forget what I'm supposed to do. Did I take too long to complete this one?
Thanx

There are actually 2 secret doors and one exit passage from the sewers. The two doors lead to quests unrelated to the Unseeing Eye. Here's a hint: If you see Keldorn, you are close to the passage that leads to the Eye.

For the second part of the question, the guy you're looking for is at the end of another quest for the church (after you complete the Eye quest). There is no time limit.

You silly twit. The Unseeing Eye quest is about you Killing an Infestation of BEHOLDERS!!! Not Mind-Flayers. But they are the harder quest, which I cant normally do before I go onto Chapters 3-5. Well done anywho. It isnt an easy Job.

Well then I missed the beholders entirely. Do you get to them through the sewers, or does the "chapel key" come into play? I found the mind flayer and wizard that had Haer (forget his name) entrances.

I didn't think the mind flayers were too bad. I'd rather face a colony of those then one stinkin greater wolfwere (see my other post). I would try to lure them one at a time via arrows from a hidden thief, into another room where I'd make pate out of his flabby little head. They have pretty low morale and wind up crying like a little elfin girl if you get a good whack at them.

Well you're going the right way, and if you found both the Mind Flayer Area in the Sewers (which is in the North) and the place where Haer'Dalis is held captive (which is somewhat more to the west), then you're definitely on the good path. Just venture some more in the sewers, killing some shadows (which give you some XP, of course). Watch out for the Devil Shades, they can call more shadows to their aid.
The place is not that hard to find; just look for some exits in the sewers.

Because she has a very high natural magic resistance, Viconia makes an excellent person to pull in the Beholder's maze.. especially when equipped with the reflective shield
