Right im a wizard slayer but i want decent armour, i have got the add on so i can get baldurons armour but i would like to know if i can get better also whats a good shield for a Wizard Slayer.

Also i was thinking about going with a Katana but now im not sure there is an add on katana with the bonus merchant but i dont know if that is better than the celestial fury

I also saw a Halberd that boosts my strength by 1 with the bonus merhants is that better than the wave and the dragons bane

Well im gettin stuck now what weapon would be good for a Wizard Slayer and what style

Also, are there any weapons or shields that give more magic resistance? If so, what are they?

I know that there's a bow which grants better magic resistance.

The "Mana Bow" I think, not sure though.

Well, the Balduran armor is expensive, but the AC on it is nice. You eventually get Red Dragon armor, which is the same AC but protection from fire. If you don't have enough money, consider the Hide Armor from the bonus merchant in the Copper Coronet (I don't remember the name of the armor, but it starts with an A). It is only AC 3 (compared to the -1 AC for the Plate), but has lots of immunities.

For shields, the Shield of Balduran is hard to beat. If you are worried about the strength loss, buy the girdle of hill giant strength. This will counteract it. Also, buy the Reflective Shield (cheap, and turns enemy arrows back on them). You will also eventually get the Shield of Harmony (makes you immune to charm, confusion, etc.). Keep them all, and switch based upon the enemies you meet.

Are you planning to play ToB? If so, this changes what weapons slots you will want to use. The best Katana, overall, is the Celestial Fury. You really don't get any better than that along the way, and it is only +3, which makes it bad in ToB when you need higher plusses to hit your enemies. Are you good-aligned? If so, Axe is a nice proficiency to start with. You can buy the Stonefire axe in the Copper Coronet once you do the slaver quest (+3 axe with fire damage, nice for early in the game), and get the Frostreaver axe in Nalia's keep (another +3 axe with cold and acid damage, also early in the game). Also, if good aligned, the Azureedge throwing axe is GREAT against the (many) undead you will find along the way. Finally, once you get to ToB, you can get the Axe of the Unyielding, which is a very nice weapon (I won't spoil the stats for you, but lets just say regenerating like a troll is nice!).

Long swords and bastard swords aren't that nice in SoA, but get really nice in ToB, so you might want to invest eventually in that. Halbards are not good until later in the game, when you find the Dragon's Breath Halbard (better than the Wave) in the Underdark. However, there is a really nasty one by the name of the Ravager in ToB.

Finally, don't forget about warhammer later in the game (Crom Faeyr is nice).

As far as styles, just understand that the lack of healing potions make you weaker than other fighters (who can just quaff a potion of Extra Healing in the middle of a fight). Thus, I would almost recommend the sword and shield style, and just get a really good selection of one-handed weapons for your main guy. If you have another warrior in the party, let them use the two-handed weapons (or dual-wield); you need to keep yourself protected, especially against the tougher opponenets. Thus, Axe and Flail are nice in the beginning, supplemented by Warhammer, Long Sword, and Bastard Sword later (the last two if playing ToB). Just choose based upon your preferences; you will only have enough slots to grandmaster in at most 3 weapons (if you play ToB, otherwise 2 only).

Hope this helps!

The sword of Balduran from the bonus merchant gives you +10 MR.It is only +2 but good for the first half of the game.
Also there is the shield of the lost +2 which also gives +5 MR.It is a reward for cooperating with the ogres at umar hills.

There are a few -----SPOILER----- Helmets of defence knocking around the game whick give you saving throw bonuses and elemental resistances (fire/cold/electricity I think) but no magical resistance.
