a strange thing about BG 1, and some druid questions

anyone who has played BG 1, can you remember the the spiders part of the cloakwood forest? if you ask from the fat spider queen that how she became like that, she said that an arch-mage called Jon Icarus(hmm, doesn`t that remind you of someone?) cast a spell on her because he loved someone else.
And the Druid questions:
1)What does becoming a great druid do?
2)will kits be entitled as great druid too?
3)what weapon is best for him?

with the first question, i meant that will they get any special abilities, since you can`t do anything with the stronghold.
and cand druids use scimitars? maybe that would be a good choice(though i can`t remeber any powerful scimitars at the moment)
hmm, what could my druid(haven`t made one yet) do with a staff of magi? or is it a weapon that only mages can use?

In PnP Grand druid is at 15 level,I think.In the game maybe so.
The druids get immensly powerfull at 15 level.However you have to install tob for this...They get immunity to poison and 6-yes 6- 7th level spells.
Yes they can use scimitars but in SoA scimitars are pathetic.
Unfortunately for you the staff of the magi can only be used by mages hehehe.
There is however a staff of the woodlands which is good for druids

Spears
The Impaler is an excelent choice.A spear +3 that does 1d6+3 +10 damage per hit.
Another good one is the spear of withering +4
In ToB there is THE spear Ixil's spike +6!!!
For begiing choices there is the spear of the unicorn +2 in the Troll mound!

Clubs
In SoA the best are Blackblood +3,Gnasher +2 and the root of the problem +1 +3 vs unnatural creatures.

There's a quite good Scimtar in ToB as well--the Spectral Brand. As well as being a +5 (after you upgrade it) weapon, it can summon a sword to fight for you once per day, like the spell Mordenkainen's Sword. The weapon isn't as good as things like Foebane or the Flail of Ages+5, but for a 1-handed Druid weapon, it's the best.

In ToB you'll get the Staff of the Ram, which rivals the Impaler for damage. Until then, the Impailer rules.

Personally......
I'd go with Helspanth and do the Staff Of The Woodlands. It sounds good, and for a themed Druid, try the cloak of the sewers. Extra polymorphing abilites. Rat is one of them. Apparantly, you can only do something like 5 damage to a rat in one go. Even people like Firkragg (He's a Dragon, not a person!

), Sarevok, Irencius and Bodhi! I don't know. I haven't tested these items.
