I might as well break the ice. I killed a ankheg and went to the blacksmith in Bereghost and had an ankheg armor made. I gave it to one of my companions, and the suit works well. Latter I go back to map 1400, kill a whole slew of ankheg and take them to Bereghost for storage in the Friendly Inn. I took one of the carapaces to the blacksmith to have him make me another suit; but he doesn't mention anything about making armor, he won't buy the dead ankheg, or even identify the ankheg. Will he only make one armor and thats it? Will anyone else buy these, I have about 10 bodies. . . .Jay

I thought the exact same thing! And the fact that you can only buy the one Full plate mail armor pissed me off too. I figure after 60 days plus, the guy at feldepost's would have another Full plate for sale.
I guess you could always use Gatekepper and give it to whichever guy you want... |

Well, if you are in chapter five you can always sell the shells to the dwarf north of the FF HQ. If you really want another suit of Ankheg Armor, there is hidden one you can find in Nashkel. The coordinates can be found at http://www.cyberjag.com/baldur/maps/armaps/ar4800.htm if you click the Show Spoilers button.
As far as the dearth of full plate mail, IMHO this item should be fairly rare, and it should be pretty expensive. With all the magic items currently in the game and all the potions as well, there should really be no problem outfitting a party for bear, so to speak. |

I'm pretty sure the armour is still in Nashkell after patches too - it can be a bit difficult to find exactly the right spot!
I think Officer Vai in Beregost will buy Ankheg heads for a good price, and there's always Gerde (?) in area 1400 though you won't get so much. Maybe you just left it too long to get that armour made - those Ankheg shells go off you know! |

Ankheg is over rated anyhow, since if you're wearing ankheg you can't use additional armour bonus items, like rings and cloaks
