Monks and traps

I was wandering what good is monks having detect traps skill? I havent found any good reason since they doesn't have thieving button so they can't disarm them. Actually it's pretty much useless (I might be wrong about this). Any help is welcome since I'm going to solo with monk and finally try quivering palm to kill Mr. F!
