I had to install a new Operating System for student purposes. Is it possible to play BG2 under Win2000, and if so are there any known problems?
Thanks for answering. |

its possible, but it creates a PERMENANT MEMORY LEAK THAT PISSES ME OFF MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE! what im saying is that it slows the game down after about 30 minutes to where its unbearable to even take a step, then u have to restart.

Just keep both operating systems and run the previous windows before you starup - simple!
![]() I use Windows ME and Windows 98 SE (but to be on the safe side I run BG2 on Windows 98 = not ME) ------------------ ![]() Greetings Mortals. My Name Is Wah, Arch Lich Wah. |

It is possible. Make sure you have the latest DirectX downloaded (DirectX8.0a). You can check by going to start\run and type dxdiag. I had a lot of crashes/freezes before that since win2K ships with DirectX7.
Also make sure you have downloaded servicepack 2 from the microsoft website, and have applied the game patch. All in all the game on my system works OK, it still has a tendency to crash on loading whenever you leave the game to do other things, then come back to the game. I've not noticed a memory leak - the game seems to run fairly smoothly over time, except when a lot is going on at the same time. |
